Wine Sampling August Promotion

With our "By The Glass" wine dispensing & sampling machine we can more readily offer you the possibility to "try before you buy" wine you may not previously have approached, given either its obscurity or of course its price tag. It can provide the opportunity to sample an expensive Bordeaux for example without having to fork out for the whole bottle, especially if it happened you didn't then like it!

How it works is simple, we give you a card which can be pre-loaded with credit, of which the machine will scan in exchange for a measures of your choice, ranging from a shot (25ml) to a small glass (125ml) of any of the wines available. We carry 8 wines in the machine, 4 Red & 4 white/Rosé at any one time, which we rotate on a regular basis to constantly let you try new things, and at their ideal serving temperature. The equipment's speciality is its ability to maintain a wine's freshness for up to 3 weeks, therefore almost eliminating wastage especially for such premium or lesser known wines that would otherwise be disposed of (or otherwise consumed by us...have we thought this through properly??)

As a promotion, throughout August we are having a give away. For every £10 you add to a card, we will give away an extra 20%, that's £2 extra of FREE WINE!! So come along and give the machine a try.

Introducing a Raft of New Wines to our Range

As ever we strive to find what we feel are some of the best wines around, and so as summer shows its last glimpses of warmth we have introduced a selection of fabulous new wines for you.

First up are our fantastic fizz;

Devaux Grande Reserve Champagne. Its no surprise this wine has won both silver and gold in the Sommelier Wine Awards in previous years, its rich baked apple and vanilla aroma's come from the house specialty Pinot Noir grapes, with enough finesse from the underlying Chardonnay results in a full & lively balance on the palate. Retail price £31.50, drink-in price £38.50.

Bride Valley Cuvee ReserveSteven Spurrier is a British expert in Wine, a famed wine writer and advocate for French wine, and so if anyone is in a position to make incredible Champagne style wine its got to be Steven. Steven took over and commenced planting the Dorset vineyard in 2009 yielding its first vintage 2 years later of which we are proud to have on our shelves.
This wine made up mostly of Chardonnay grapes with a little richness from a small ratio of Pinot Noir shows green apples, pears and toast, with a lively acidity that is becoming a hallmark of English sparklers. We have it on the shelf at £29.95 or £36.95 enjoyed at Stydd Gardens

Anna de Codorniu, Blanc de Blancs Cava. Made from a blend of both typical grapes of Champagne (Chardonnay) and traditional Spanish Cava grapes (Xarel-Lo & Paralleda) give a distinctive experience of citrusy and tropical hints floating amongst the brioche aroma's from the ageing on lees, leading to a rich creamy palate, the wine currently is in stock in standard 750ml or even 200ml "Benjamin" sized bottles retailing at £13.50 and £5.00 respectively.

Innocent Bystander Moscato. Hailing from the Yarra Valley, Australia this is like rhubarb crumble in a glass; full rich flavours with hints of uplifting rose water and mandarin emanating with the fine frizzante which keeps the palate refreshed and clean. Extremely moreish and at only 5.5% abv its equally enjoyable at lunch time! £9.50 for this bottle

Codornew Albarino Frizzante, a low alcohol wine that does not compromise character as it has undergone full normal fermentation and then expertly dealcoholised so that all of the aromas and flavours are retained. Citrus, Grapefruit and White Peach are all evident in the fruity, balanced sparkling wine. On our shelves at £10.75

Next up are a some exceptional still wines;

Peter Lehmann has been described as one of Australia's most respected and innovative wine makers. So we were keen to grab hold of some of his latest offerings. especially since they have been selected and crafted from very specific portions of the Barossa estate to give much finer albeit more limited specialty wines aimed at us smaller outlets.

Layers Red & White, the philosophy for both these wines is to create a wine greater than the sum of its parts, each individually fermented (& oak aged in the red) grape in both of the blends bring its unique character to add depth of flavour. The red is made up of pre-dominantly Shiraz providing deep dark fruit character, a robust savouriness from Tempranillo, an earthy spice character from Mourvedre and all softened with a little Grenache. Both the Red & White sell at £10.75

Masters "Wigan" Riesling. Picked from Peter Lehmann's world renowned Eden Valley vineyards, to produce this dry aromatic and anonymously limey flavours with those typical faint notes of petrol on the nose which develop over the 5 years of ageing in bottle. Consistently receives awards and top end points in tastings vintage after vintage. Retailing at £13.95 or £20.95 to drink here

Superb English Still Wine from Stopham Estate in Dorset

Pinot Blanc think along the lines of a Sauvignon Blanc, but halfway between the classic Sancerre and NZ styles, the flavours are succulent whilst less sharp than many new world styles and does retain the smooth elegance that is typical from France. Full of Grapefruit, Limes and Melon

Pinot Gris Aromatic peach and pear on the nose and a fine balance of crisp acidity with a hint of sweetness that lingers on the palate

Rosé the Dornfelder grape provides bags of raspberry and strawberry fruit, ever so slightly off dry with refreshing acidity to compliment a warm summer day.
All 3 of these are priced at £14.95 to take with you, we often have these chilled to open by the glass here at £5.50 (175ml)

Our web-shop has been updated and re-opened, follow the links above which should take you there if you prefer to order and have your wines brought to you!

We're sure there is something here to set the mouth watering, so we hope to see you soon to let us know what you think!

What an incredible week!
This is the busiest we have been since prior to opening, and trust me that is definitely saying something!

The Autumn Gift Fair at Stonyhurst College

This weekend Stonyhurst College hosted their popular Gift Fair and was the perfect opportunity for us to showcase some of the Gift Hampers we have put together, lots of local fare goes into the themed packages such as a Chocoholic Hamper, the Chilli-holic hamper, a Bowland Brewery Hamper, and our exclusive festive hamper including a fabulous 10 year Tawny Port, Blacksticks Blue Cheese and Christmas Pudding made by our amazing cake partner Lisa Marie Cakes of Longridge.
For those who made it to the show and signed up at the Live Ribble Valley Stand; you will have witnessed the most amazing cake creation I have certainly ever seen around these parts, whilst also entering the draw (to be made very soon) to win a celebration cake and fizz worth in excess of £200!
We also made some new friends; Emma Bailie from Aged in Oak, based in Garstang, provided a professional tasting demonstration and showcased some equally excellent wines. It was great to share and compare our exploits and experiences with fellow local wine independent merchants, we wish you every success and very much hope to catch up again soon, we can't wait to visit your shop!

A Full House

Upon returning from a busy day on the stand and with the ever popular Peter stepping into our shoes in our absence we were greeted by a bustling shop of smiling faces and chinking glasses, it was fantastic to witness our busiest weekend so far and so thank you all for coming; familiar faces and new, I hope you all enjoyed the evening and hope to see you again soon!

Lighting in the Press

Once again thank you to at Live Magazine for the choosing Fullaloves Vintage Lighting as an editorial piece for the fabulous interiors edition this month, it has generated a great deal of interest in what is quite unique but wildly sought after ambient lighting, especially poignant given the clock change over the weekend!

Discover English Sparkling Wine

It has even won over our own Royal family to switch to home grown grapes as their celebratory tipple. Canapes will match the various styles of wines produced by Nyetimber to give you some inspiration as we tentatively mull over what to buy for the festive celebrations!

Spaces will be limited to around 30 for this event get in early if you would like to join us. Keep a look out on here, the forthcoming newsletter or on Facebook for more information to come this week.
